Tasty, easy & fast: Pasta salad

During the day, the fishing lines are out to catch fish, but unfortunately fish do not bite on command, so you never know if you can count on fresh fish. That’s why this pasta salad with canned tuna is also delicious as a lunch dish.

You can make this salad in advance, handy if you want to throw in the first day at sea and prefer not to cook, but also nice to take with you to a potluck ( a communal meal where everyone brings some food to share).

What do you need?

For 2 people:

  • 200 grams of pasta
  • 1 can of tuna
  • 1 can roasted bell pepper or 1 fresh bell pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 4 pickles
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • a dash of vinegar
  • juice of 1 lime.

Prepare:

  1. Cook the pasta.
  2. In a salad bowl, make a dressing from the mayonnaise, vinegar, and lime juice.
  3. Finely chop the onion.
  4. Add the drained tuna, the bell pepper in strips, and pieces of gherkin.
  5. Drain the pasta and mix with the ingredients in the salad bowl.
  6. Serve with fresh pepper.

You can also add olives, pieces of cucumber or apple, and fresh tomato to the salad, depending on what you have on board.

Tips: Cooking safely while on-board

  • “One hand for the boat and one for yourself” is difficult when cooking, always make sure to stand firmly.
  • Keep the floor clean and dry to avoid slipping.
  • “A cook does not wear a bikini” always wear a shirt or apron when cooking.
  • Be careful with knives, don’t leave them lying around, but put them in the sink, for example, when you’re not using them
